Coyotes rebound to beat Chiefs on road

The Osoyoos Coyotes bounced back from a tough loss in Princeton for a big road triumph against the Kelowna Chiefs.

Connor Onstein’s goal with 8:57 left in the second period broke a 2-2 tie and the Coyotes beat the Chiefs 4-2 on Saturday at the Rutland Arena.

Sam Reinbolt, Brandon Onstein and Judd Repole, into an empty net with 44 seconds left, also scored for Osoyoos (11-6-1), which moved back into second place in the Okanagan Division.

Myles Mattila scored twice in the second period for Kelowna to erase a 2-0 deficit.

Daniel Paul made 31 saves for the win, while Aris Anagnostop­oulos blocked 25 shots for the Chiefs.

FRIDAY — Posse 3 Coyotes 2: Ethan Schnor’s power-play goal 1:14 into the third period proved to be the winner as Princeton held off Osoyoos.

Linden Gove and Owen Hart had the other goals for the Posse.

Hunter Johnson and Carter Shannon, with 1:41 remaining, replied for the Coyotes. Bobby Milligan was terrific with 46 stops for Princeton, while Liam Aitken stopped 27 shots for Osoyoos.

Knights 4 Steam 1: Alec McLeod scored twice as last-place North Okanagan stunned first-place Summerland at the Nor-Val Centre in Armstrong.

Brady Marzocco and Ben Jossinet also scored for the Knights (5-11-1-3).

Riley Smoler scored for the Steam (14-5-0), who remained five points ahead of second-place Osoyoos.

Zach Willms had 32 saves for the Knights and Owen Petten stopped 25 for the Steam.

The Steam and Knights do it all over again Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Summerland Arena.
