Currie family appreciative

-

Dear family and friends: As you know, Bill Currie, our loving husband and father passed away Nov. 1 of an unexpected heart attack.

Since that very sad day, we have received an outpouring of kindness and sympathy from countless family, friends and colleagues.

Words cannot express our gratitude for the many kind messages via greeting cards, emails, texts, phone calls and personally delivered hugs, food, flowers and offers of a sympathetic ear and shoulder to cry on. We have loved hearing all your stories of the time you spent with Bill and the memories you have of him.

We were deeply moved by the presence of all those who were able to attend Bill's celebration of life on Nov. 4, and we know many of you changed plans and travelled great distances (through bad weather) to be with us last weekend. For this we are very thankful. We are also grateful for the many donations made to Bill's favourite charities – he would be touched.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for helping us through this very difficult time. Your kindness has meant a lot to us and touched our hearts immensely. It's hard to believe he's gone. We keep expecting him to walk into the room carrying Georgie.

We laid Bill to rest in a lovely spot in the old section of Lakeview Cemetery in Penticton. Bill always loved a great view and now he has the perfect vantage point where he can see down the lake to our home in Summerland.

We took joy in noticing that his neighbours include a couple of musicians who will no doubt keep him up past his bedtime.

If you'd like to view it, here's a link to the photo slideshow that was shown during last weekend's service: youtube/x7cw6HeW8XY And a poem that seemed fitting:

GONE FISHIN' I've finished life's chores assigned to me,

So put me on a boat headed out to sea. Please send along my fishing pole For I've been invited to the fishin' hole. Where every day is a day to fish, To fill your heart with every wish. Don't worry, or feel sad for me, I'm fishin' with the Master of the sea. We will miss each other for awhile, But you will come and bring your smile. That won't be long you will see, Till we're together you and me. To all of those that think of me, Be happy as I go out to sea. If others wonder why I'm missin' Just tell 'em I've gone fishin' – Delmar Pepper
