Penticton Lock and Key prevails despite opponent’s 6-goal performanc­e

Penticton Lock and Key couldn’t stop Herb Alex, but they had enough to outlast the Harvey Lister Webb team.

Alex piled up six goals, but PLK rallied for a 9-7 victory over HLW in Bad Tattoo Brewery Masters Indoor Soccer League action Sunday at the Adidas Sportsplex.

Dave Killick also scored, but HLW surrendere­d 2-0 and 5-3 leads in falling to 0-2 on the young season.

Dave Hewer notched two goals and three assists, Gord McLaren scored twice, Zico Pescada had a goal and four helpers and Dave Crompton broke a 7-7 tie as PLK posted their second straight win to start the campaign.

Paul Borba, Andy Burt and Alan Clarke also clicked for PLK in a game that was tied 5-5 at halftime.

In the first game of the day, Darren Schimpf and Norman Peters bagged four goals apiece as Theos beat TC Auto Sales 10-4.

Carlos Mendonca logged a goal and two assists, Harry Higson also scored and Mike Osland racked up four assists for the winners, who led 7-4 at halftime.

Kevin Kothlow with two, Tony Dias and Peter Ruocco scored for TCA, who were forced to use offensive stalwart Peter Toth in goal in the absence of regular keeper Pat Vanryswyk.

Theos were buoyed by the return of star goalkeeper Tom McGill.

In games this Sunday, TC auto faces PLK at 10 a.m., while Theos meets HLW at 11:20 a.m.

CO-ED LEAGUE: First Choice FC is perfect through three rounds of play in the Penticton Co-Ed Indoor Soccer League.

First Choice beat Omland Heal LLP 7-3 on Sunday. First Choice opened the season with an 8-2 win over Oliver FC, and then topped Greenwood Forest Products Calypso 3-1.

In other Week 3 games, Delicate Bulls FC beat Riverside Go Bananas 7-5, and Greenwood thumped Oliver 14-3.

Week 2: Riverside G Bananas 11 Omland Heal LLC 5; and Delicate Bulls FC 9 Oliver FC 4.

Week 1: Delicate Bulls FC 9 Omland Heal LLP 3, and Riverside Go Bananas 5 Greenwood 5.

MEN’S LEAGUE: In Penticton men’s indoor play, PFC edged Liverpools FC 4-3, Nomads FC shaded Blue Bucks FC 5-4, Over-35s downed Black Panthers FC 7-1, and Oliver FC battled to a 5-5 tie with The Hooligans.

The season continues this week.
