Officer aware of potential dangers

-

Dear editor: I know, I know, I have the just-one-moreletter syndrome.

However I must say I agree 100 per cent with the letter submitted Nov. 24 by Donald F. Deeprose.

I would think the majority of people felt deeply for the family of slain Abbotsford police officer John Davidson,

However the reality is that John chose the career knowing each day on the job could be filled with confrontation.

Police, politicians and the entire crappy justice system have to rely on expertise from ordinary people and trades people for the very privileged lifestyle they enjoy.

Canada sends young military personal to conflicts around the world to kill or be killed by other opposing people that agree to disagree.

Ordinary working people are in potential danger as soon as they start their vehicle and leave for work, to never return home after an accident claims their life while trying to make a living in highly dangerous conditions some equal or more so than to those of a police officer.

Pedestrians get run over, people are killed in vehicle accidents by drunks at the wheel but that isn't murder, ships sink, airplanes go down and the hopeless finish themselves off with drugs. The end result is all of the above are dead with no big parade but a life-time of sadness for the loved ones they left behind.

There would be an endless parade around the world if all innocents that died a tragic death by murder were provided a parade and service equal to a lone policeman.

Does anybody believe their god has a special place to serve in heaven if the resume indicates you need rehab after working in such a tainted place where equal justice for all never happens unless you are one of them? Tom Isherwood Olalla
