Chiefs cool off Steam

A little bit of Love was just what the Kelowna Chiefs needed to get a big road win over the division-leading Summerland Steam on Saturday.

Tyler Love scored at 1:47 of overtime as the resurgent Chiefs nipped the Steam 2-1 in KIJHL action at the Summerland Arena. Kaden Stewart tied the game in the second period for the Chiefs (12-81-2), who won for the fifth time in six games and moved into a second-place tie with Osoyoos Coyotes in the Okanagan Division.

Cody Swan replied for the Steam (17-6-0-1), who got a valuable point and sit eight points clear of the Chiefs and Coyotes. Max Gaudet made 19 saves for the Chiefs, while Matt Huber finished with 28 stops for Summerland.

Wranglers 7 Coyotes 5: Fraser Dodd had the hat trick and Justin Bond’s second of the game with 8:51 left broke a 5-5 tie as 100 Mile House triumphed over Osoyoos at the Sun Bowl Arena.

Bond leads the KIJHL with 20 goals. Julien Dewey also scored twice for the visitors, who led 4-3 after two periods.

Judd Repole, with two goals, Cameron Welch, with a goal and three helpers, Carter Shannon and Hunter Johnson clicked for Osoyoos (13-7-1-0), which outshot the Wranglers 43-32.

FRIDAY — Coyotes 8 Posse 0: Repole tallied three goals and two assists, Colin Bell racked up a goal and five assists and Paul made 24 saves for the shutout as Osoyoos cruised to a win in Princeton.

Shannon scored twice and Johnson and Connor Onstein had solos for the Coyotes, who led 1-0 and 4-0 at the intermissi­ons.

The Coyotes scored five power-play goals and a shorthande­d goal while unloading 42 shots on two Princeton goalies.

Chiefs 5 Eagles 2: Jarin Sutton scored twice and Aidan Bar-Lev-Wise logged three assists as Kelowna beat Sicamous at the Rutland Arena.

Rhys Colpron, Myler Mattila and Cole Williams also scored for the Chiefs, who outshot Sicamous 53-32. Dallas Stewart and Cody Loucks scored for the Eagles.
