The Kelowna chapter of 100 Men Who Give a Damn has hit the milestone of 10 events raising more than $170,000 for local charities, according to co-founder Chris Wills of Colliers Internatio­nal.

Police win

The new Kelowna Police Services Building at the corner of Richter Street and Clement Avenue was the overall winner at the 9th annual Thompson Okanagan Kootenay Commercial Building Awards.

The $48-million, three-storey, 100,000-square-foot RCMP detachment is part offices, part cells and part forensic laboratori­es.

The building, designed by Vancouverb­ased Kasian Architectu­re and built by Toronto-based Bird Constructi­on, also picked up the Award of Excellence in the community institutio­n category.

– Office: Okanagan Centre for Innovation in Kelowna

– Renovation: SQM Research Centre in Vernon – Retail: Kelowna Fruit Stand – Seniors’ housing: The Residences at Orchards Walk in Kamloops

– Wood constructi­on: Osoyoos Indian Band Administra­tion Building

– Shopping centre: Airport Village Kelowna
