BASKETBALL

The Pen-Hi Lakers breezed to three straight wins to capture top honours at the Fulton junior girls’ high school basketball tournament in Vernon before the holiday break.

In the final, tournament MVP Jaden Yamamoto collected 25 points and Sophie Brydon logged 22 as the Lakers defeated the host Fulton team 57-42.

Yamamoto garnered 17 points and 12 rebounds as the Lakers opened by drilling Salmon Arm 71-22. Kayla Haukaas had 14 points, Kate Glibbery notched 12 and Brydon carded five assists. Player of the game went to Rebekah Young for her defensive hustle.

Yamamoto racked up 30 points and 14 boards for her second straight double-double as the Lakers beat W.L. Seaton (Vernon) 69-41.

Brydon added 14 points and four assists, while Haukaas hit from the three-point line and logged eight points and four assists to earn player of the game honours.

The Lakers also reached the final in its first tourney at KSS in Kelowna, but lost to Summerland.

BOWLING

Janis McLintock posted the ladies’ high single of 252 in Monday Nite five-pin bowling league action at the Roll N Stones Fun Centre.

Brenda Gillard had the high fourgame of 851 and Arlee Mooy retained the high average of 215.

On the men’s side, Harley Elasoff and Bob Biro tied for the high single at 291, Mike Elder grabbed the high four-game of 1,005, and Stu Ryan the high average of 264.

Team Mike had the high single of 869 and the high four-game of 3,215.

In Thursday Nite Men’s 10-pin league play, Taylor Shea took the high single of 197, Dave Deveney the high triple of 546 and Bob Biro the high average of 186.

Sparkles Window Cleaning had the high single of 661 and the high triple of 2,538.

DARTS

Clancy’s Snipers had settled for 15 points in Week 15 and had their lead atop the Penticton and District Dart Associatio­n standings shaved to 22 points.

Roll N Stones Fun Centre Alley Brats had a big 21-point week to remain in second place in the 19team pub league at 2f65.

ANAF Smokin’ Aces had 17 points to stay third at 251, Elks No. 1 slumped to 11 points to hold on to fourth at 235, while OK Falls Legion Hand Grenades round out the top five after a league-best 24point week.

Ryan McKenzie and Deb Nichols each have two perfect 180 scores on the season while 11 others have one. Rick Royer has a pair of 171s.

Dennis Arychuk and Greg Fourchalk shared high scores honours for the week at 174. Betty Gibson has high score on the women’s side at 165.
