A perfect 10: Peters sets new scoring mark

- By Penticton Herald Staff

Norm Peters couldn’t stop scoring and by the time he finished the big Scotsman had a new league single-game record.

Peters piled up 10 goals and added three assists as Theos torched Harvey-Lister-Webb 18-4 in Bad Tattoo Brewery Masters Indoor Soccer League action Sunday at the Adidas Sportsplex.

With nine regulars missing, Theos was able to call on several “non-affiliated” players for the game. One of those, Mike Beliveau, had a hat-trick and two assists, and Theos regular Keith Johnstone did likewise. NAPs Charley Mayer and Vlado Zamecnik also found the back of the net with the latter adding three helpers.

Brian Johnston, with a hat-trick, and Rick Marini scored for HLW, who trailed 8-2 at the half.

In the late game, Gord McLaren notched four goals and two assists, Alan Clarke had a hat-trick and league scoring leader Zico Pescada tallied six assists as Penticton Lock and Key doubled TC Auto Sales 10-5.

Paul Borba, Andy Burt and Venna Veselka also scored for PLK (11-1-0), who clinched the regular season title last week.

Joe Kandola scored four goals and Peters — as an NAP — tacked on his 11th goal of the day.

In games this Sunday, PLK takes on Theos at 10 a.m. and HLW faces TC Auto at 11:20 a.m.
