The Wenatchee Wild captured three of the six voted B.C. Hockey League awards.

BCHL scoring champ Jasper Weatherby won the Vern Dye Memorial Trophy as most valuable player, the league announced on Wednesday, while Cooper Zech — who led the league in assists — was named Top Defenceman, and Bliss Littler got the Joe Tennant Memorial Trophy as Coach of the Year.

Victoria Grizzlies forward Alex Newhook won the Bruce Allison Memorial Trophy as Rookie of the Year by unanimous vote; Vernon Vipers’ Ty Taylor took the Top Goaltender Award, and Ben Poisson of Prince George Spruce Kings won the Bob Fenton Trophy as Most Sportsmanl­ike Player.

The awards were based on a poll of the BCHL’s 17 head coaches.

In non-voting awards, the Penticton Vees won the Ron Boileau Memorial Trophy as regular season champions with 86 points; Weatherby took the Brett Hull Trophy as top scorer with 37 goals and 74 points, and Taylor and Anthony Yamnitsky of Vernon won the Wally Forslund Trophy as the top goaltendin­g tandem.

Former National Hockey League defencemen Willie Mitchell and Scott Hannan highlight this year’s inductees into the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame.

Gerry Siller and the 1979-80 Hardy Cup Canadian champions Burnaby Lakers will also be inducted. The event will be held Friday, July 20 at the Penticton Lakeside Resort.

Keaghan Roberts potted four goals to lead the Hitmen to a 7-2 victory over Biscuits in Penticton Men’s Recreation­al Hockey League action Monday.

Michael Penny scored twice and Luc Rioux once for the winners.

Steve Semenoff and Tyler Janzen connected for Biscuits.

BOWLING

Arlee Mooy got on some kind of a roll in Monday Night Mixed five-pin bowling league play at the Roll N Stones Fun Centre this week.

Mooy had the ladies’ high single of 358, high four-game of 1,012 and high average of 215. She helped “Team Arlee” to the high single of 1,231, while Team Bob had the high four-game of 4,367.

Mike Elder had the men’s single of 313 and high four-game of 1,082 and Stu Ryan the high average of 260.

In Thursday Night Men’s 10-pin league play, Bob Biro stole the show with the high single of 214, high triple of 587 and high average of 188.

It helped Bob’s Boys to the team high single of 913, while Deveney Stamps logged the high triple of 2,543.
