Volunteers ready to help do your taxes

-

Westside Health Network Society volunteers, trained through the Canada Revenue Agency, are available to help those on low incomes prepare their tax returns.

The weekly free tax preparation clinics take place Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Westbank Lions Community Centre at 2466 Main St. until April 19.

To be eligible to use the clinic, a single person’s income must be $30,000 or less with no dependent or $35,000 or less with one dependent. Couples must have a combined income of $40,000 or less. Investment income must be less than $1,000. The service is available on a first-come firstserve basis. People should bring their tax slips and receipts with them, as well as a copy of last year’s income tax forms.

The Westside Health Network volunteers have provided this service for more than 10 years and prepared 400 tax returns last year.
