Matchup set for masters indoor soccer title game
HLW doesn’t waste chance to win it all
Harvey-Lister-Webb and Penticton Lock and Key will clash for the Bad Tattoo Brewery Masters Indoor Soccer League playoffs championship.
Brian Johnston notched a hattrick, Nathan Larkin scored twice and Reid Jenkins tallied four assists as HLW upset second-place Theos 8-4 in semifinal action Sunday at the Adidas Sportsplex.
Derrick Webb, Rick Marini and Dave Killick also scored for HLW, which led 5-2 at halftime.
Harry Higson with two, Norm Peters a goal and two assists and Carlos Mendonca connected for a depleted Theos team, which was without standout goalkeeper Tom McGill. Rob Kroeker also had two assists. Jenkins, HLW goalie Pat Buchanan and Webb were the three stars.
PLK 10, TC AUTO 8 Gord McLaren and Vlado Zamecnik each scored twice and Dave Hewer carded four assists as regular-season champs PLK held off TC Auto.
Paul Borba had a goal and two assists and Zico Pescada, Andy Burt, Dave Crompton, Alan Clarke and Phil Barata also counted for PLK, which led 6-3 at the break.
Peter Toth had three goals – including a magnificent lunging volley off a corner kick – and Mike Beliveau had two goals and three assists for TCA. Joe Kandola scored twice and Peters – pressed into action for a second game – had a goal and three assists.
Borba, TC Auto goalie Pat Vanryswyk and Hewer were the three stars.
This Sunday wraps up the indoor season with TC Auto playing Theos in the third-place game at 10 a.m., and HLW taking on PLK for the championship at 11:20 a.m.
