Chiefs pull even with Osoyoos

The KIJHL’s Okanagan Division championsh­ip series is now a bestof-three after both teams held serve on home ice.

Devin Sutton scored twice and added two assists as the Kelowna Chiefs beat the Osoyoos Coyotes 62 Saturday at the Rutland Arena, evening the best-of-seven series at 2-2.

Kelowna won 5-4 at home on Friday after the Coyotes won the first two games 6-1 and 3-2 in overtime at the Sun Bowl Arena in midweek.

Game 5 goes tonight at 7:35 p.m. at the Sun Bowl, with Game 6 on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Rutland.

If necessary, Game 7 Wednesday at the Sun Bowl.

Game 4 – Chiefs 6 Coyotes 2: Regular season MVP Brett Witala had a goal and four assists and Brody Dale a goal and three assists as the big line exploded for 13 points on Saturday.

Juanre Naude and Myles Mattila also scored for the Chiefs, who led 1-0 and 3-1 at the period breaks.

Jackson Barrett and Hunter Johnson scored for the Coyotes.

Joseph Mcleod had 37 saves for the win and Daniel Paul stopped 36 shots for Osoyoos.

Game 3 – Chiefs 5 Coyotes 4: Dale scored the winner, snapping a 4-4 tie with 1:17 left in regulation time as Kelowna got back into the series on Friday.

Zach Erhardt scored twice and Sutton and Mathew Alcorn also connected for the Chiefs, who led 1-0 after one period but trailed 4-3 after two.

Austin Cleaver with two, Colin Bell and Connor Onstein notched second-period goals for the Coyotes. Mcleod had 29 saves and Paul 32. Doug Birks Division final: The first-place Revelstoke Grizzlies got a big 7-4 road win Saturday to even the series with the 100 Mile House Wranglers at 2-2. Game 5 is tonight in Revelstoke.

Neil Murdoch Division final: The Castlegar Rebels staved off eliminatio­n by beating the visiting Nelson Leafs 6-2 Saturday. The Leafs lead the series 3-1 and can close it out tonight on home ice.

Eddie Mountain Division final: Columbia Valley Rockies nipped the visiting Kimberley Dynamiters 1-0 Saturday but still trail the series 3-1. Game 5 is tonight in Kimberley. is
