At Moose Jaw, Jordy Stallard and Cole Fonstad both scored twice as the Prince Albert Raiders upset the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy-winning Warriors in their series opener.

Regan Nagy also scored and Ian Scott stood tall with 35 saves in backstoppi­ng the victory over the regular-season champions.

Vince Loschiavo, Tristyn DeRoose and Kale Clague responded for the Warriors, who trailed 2-0 and 4-1 at the period breaks. Brody Willms allowed all five goals before getting pulled by Moose Jaw.

Broncos 3, Pats 0

At Swift Current, Stuart Skinner pitched a 34-save shutout to blank the Memorial Cup host Regina Pats.

Beck Malenstyn, Tyler Steenberge­n and Matteo Gennaro scored first-period goals for the host Broncos and Skinner made that lead stand up the rest of the way. Regina outshot Swift Current 34-26, getting 23 saves from Ryan Kubic in a losing effort.

At Lethbridge, Logan Flodell — who was traded for Skinner at this year’s deadline — also started the playoffs with a shutout, stopping all 30 shots he faced to earn first-star honours against the visiting Red Deer Rebels.

Lethbridge got goals from six different players in Taylor Ross, Tate Olson, Brad Morrison, Jordy Bellerive, Logan Barlage and Jake Elmer, who also had two assists for a three-point performanc­e. Jadon Joseph chipped in with three helpers.

Riley Lamb only stopped 20 of 26 shots for Red Deer.

Giants 2, Royals 1

At Victoria, Trent Miner stole the opener for the visiting Vancouver Giants, finishing with 40 saves, including 14 in the third period.

Milos Roman and Matt Barberis scored secondperi­od goals for Vancouver, with Ty Ronning and Tyler Benson recording the primary assists.

Tanner Kaspick replied the Royals, pulling Victoria even at 1-1 before Barberis netted what stood up as the winner with 1:35 left in the middle frame.
