Horgan, Scheer planning Penticton stops this week

Two high-profile political leaders are scheduled to touch down in the South Okanagan this week.

First up is Premier John Horgan, who is hosting a public meet-and-greet Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at The Nest and Nectar restaurant in Penticton.

He’s then slated to head to Lakeridge Homes for an announceme­nt “that will benefit people living in manufactur­ed homes,” according to a media advisory.

Later that afternoon, he will head to Oliver to kick off B.C. Wine Month at Tinhorn Creek Winery with Agricultur­e Minister Lana Popham and BC Wine Institute CEO Miles Prodan.

Horgan’s itinerary includes a tour of Tinhorn’s vineyard, tasking room and Miradaro restaurant.

Meanwhile, the leader of the federal Conservati­ves is due in Penticton on Thursday.

Andrew Scheer is scheduled to give a presentati­on and take questions on business competitiv­eness, touching on such topics as taxes, the federal budget and interprovi­ncial trade.

Hosted by the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce, the presentati­on runs from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Riverside Conference Centre at the Days Inn.

The cost to attend is $12 and includes a light breakfast. Attendees are required to register in advance at www.penticton.org or by calling 778-476-3111.
