Calling all nature photographers

-

Dear editor: The South Okanagan Naturalists’ Club would like to remind all residents of the Regional District of OkanaganSimilkameen of our ongoing nature photo contest.

This contest is open to all residents of the RDOS excepting professional photographers. Photos submitted must have been taken within the geographic boundaries of the RDOS, which, given the large size of the regional district, allows for an incredible diversity of landscapes, habitats, plants, animals and birds.

There are six categories in which to enter photos and each category will have its own winners and runners-up, with more than $4,500 in total prizes to be given away, including a grand prize package worth nearly $1,000.

The categories include waterfowl, other birds, animals, flora, landscapes and invasive species. The winners and runners-up as well as selected other photos submitted will be displayed at the Penticton Museum in the fall of this year.

For complete details on the contest rules, the prizes and on how to enter, visit our website: www.southokanagannature.com

Entries are being accepted until July 15, so if you haven’t been outdoors recently, get out in our wonderful area now or dig through your photos of the last few years and send a few in.

Good luck to all. Bob Handfield, South Okanagan Naturalists’ Club
