Hospital staff is truly top notch

-

Dear editor: Having read so many negative letters about our Interior Health system, I find it necessary to add my two cents’ worth.

Before my husband’s passing 2 years ago, he had spent many days in both the Penticton and Oliver hospitals.

In all of his time spent in hospital, he never received anything but care and compassion.

Having very recently spent nearly a month between Kelowna and Penticton hospitals myself, I have now experienced first-hand what my husband went through and I can honestly say that I also received top-notch care from the nurses and support staff.

Also, I can’t understand why people complain about the food. I found all meals to be nutritious and varied. Granted they come to you very bland because of people on various diets, but if you add a little salt and pepper you’ll find it quite tasty.

Maybe it’s not up to the Ritz standards, but it’s a hospital. What else do you expect?

God forbid if our hospital employees are forced into another strike or walk-out situation. If so, I would hope that they get the support they deserve from all of us.

After all, you could be requiring their care at some time.

My heartiest thanks to the staff on the surgical ward for looking after me. Mavis Creech
