Tricky Munoz leads oldtimers

Tony Munoz and Penticton TC Auto rolled over the defending champions.

Munoz produced a first-half hat-trick as Penticton cruised to a 4-0 victory over Ledcor Kickers from Kelowna in Capri Okanagan Oldtimers’ 55-and-over soccer league action Thursday at King’s Park.

Gord McLaren also scored and Pat Vanryswyk registered the shutout as Penticton improved to 2-0 on the season.

The Kickers, who had just 10 players available, fell to 2-1.

Munoz scored six minutes in and added two more before the half to take his leaguelead­ing total of six.

McLaren added one more early in the second half.

Penticton, on the long stretch of home games to open the campaign, take on Beasley FC Thursday at 7 p.m. at King’s Park.

Summerland chalked up its first victory of the season as Andy Burt and Ken Clift bulged the old onion bag in a 2-0 triumph over Kelowna Vintage at Dale Meadows Park.

Summerland (1-1-1) also stays at home for a tough matchup against Brown Benefits Thursday at 7 p.m. at Dale Meadows.

OVER-45: In a marquee early-season matchup, the top two teams in the league over recent seasons meet tonight at 7:15 p.m. at King’s Park 4.

Defending league and playoff champs Brown Benefits from Kelowna face Penticton Dental Centre United – who were runnersup in both last season.

Brown comes in at 3-0 while Penticton sits at 2-0.
