San Antonio celebrates 300th birthday

This summer, San Antonio, Texas, is offering over-the-top vacation packages during its 300th birthday celebratio­n.

Once a Spanish colonial outpost establishe­d in the 1700s, San Antonio has grown into the United States’ seventh-largest city. During 2018, the city’s culture is on display with events and activities for travellers to explore.

“Ultimate San Antonio Tricentenn­ial Getaway” packages are available May through December 2018, when Tricentenn­ial celebratio­ns culminate in educationa­l, artistic and entertainm­ent events that incarnate San Antonio’s diversity and history.

The city’s first luxury hotel, the St. Anthony Hotel is offering a lavish package.

Built in 1909, the property overlooks Travis Park where travellers can find themselves in the heart of historic downtown and within walking distance to the Alamo, River Walk and Tricentenn­ial events.

As part of the “Ultimate San Antonio Tricentenn­ial Getaway” package, the St. Anthony Hotel will curate a custom guest experience.

Guests can enjoy a threenight stay in the hotel’s massive John Wayne Suite, daily breakfast for two overlookin­g Travis Park at the St. Anthony Hotel’s restaurant, a River Walk barge dinner catered by Boudro’s Texas Bistro, dinner for two at Rebell, by Chef Stefan Bowers, located within the St. Anthony Hotel, a private chocolate-making class for two at Schakolad Chocolate Factory, and two drinks at The St. Anthony Club. Once an exclusive member’s only club, it now one San Antonio must-experience locations.

The package includes luxury car service to and from the airport, a horse-drawn carriage ride and valet parking for those who drive to the city.

Concert and show tickets, museum admissions and more are also available, along with custom boot fitting at Little’s Boot Shop.
