New attractions at the nearby national parks

-

Looking for a quick getaway to see some of Canada’s natural wonders?

Spring and early summer is the perfect time to visit Mount Revelstoke National Park’s new attractions and to experience the rugged Columbia Mountains in Glacier National Park from the many scenic roadside viewpoints and some great short trails. The lower slopes of Mount Revelstoke, just minutes from the Trans-Canada Highway, about three hours from Kelowna,, offer two new interpretive experiences:

— Nels’ Knickers — experience the thrill of ski jumping as you lean out in sculpted ski gear with a view over the City of Revelstoke and the Monashee Mountains, and learn more about the ski jumping pioneers from the area.

— The Beaver Lodge Kids Bike Park inspires kids to learn about the plants and animals in the park while they develop their biking skills.

These new attractions, combined with an established network of short walking and biking trails, makes lower Mount Revelstoke a great place to explore with family or friends in the early summer.

In Glacier National Park, short trails like Hemlock Grove Boardwalk or Bear Creek Falls Trail offers cool escapes and quiet picnic spots, and the lower Beaver Valley Trail is open for family-friendly mountain-biking. Online: www.pc.gc.ca/mountrevelstoke, www.pc.gc.ca/glacier
