Sales are brisk for space in West Tower

-

More than two-thirds of the condominiums in the 29-storey West Tower at One Water Street in Kelowna have been purchased in the first week of sales.

Sixty per cent of the 140 highrise homes were bought by people from Vancouver, the rest mostly by Okanagan buyers.

Sales prices ranged from $299,000 to $1 million and totalled $70 million.

Developers Kerkhoff Construction and North American Development Group said they knew the offering would be a hot one.

They brought the tower to market six months ahead of schedule because the first-phase of the project, the 36-storey East Tower, which is under construction, is almost sold out.

In all, 344 condos valued at a total of $200 million have now been sold in the East and West towers, which will be the city's tallest buildings when completed.

Construction on West Tower will start this summer for completion in 2020.

One Water Street is part of the highrise boom in downtown Kelowna, which also includes the nearly-complete 21storey 1151 Sunset, the under-construction 20-storey Ella and the yet-tostart 14-storey Parc beside Prospera Place and 25-storey Brooklyn, the first of three or four towers on the former Bargain Shop site at the corner of Bernard Avenue and St. Paul Street.
