Go wild on Sunday

-

This Sunday, walkers and runners of all ages can support children with developmental delays by participating in the Wildstone Colours4Kids Run.

The five- and 2.5- kilometre walk or run kicks off at 10 a.m. at LocoLanding Adventure Park, and aims to unite children, youth and adults and give them a colourful experience they will not soon forget with all proceeds going to the OSNS Child & Youth Development Centre.

The event is not about competition but rather about celebrating health and happiness.

During the run, participants will pass by check points where they will be blitzed with an array of vibrant-coloured powdered chalk.

Now in its fifth year, the Wildstone Colours4Kids Run was started by Penticton teenager Sinclaire Lovett in memory of her sister, Bronwyn, who passed away at the age of 18 due to a mitochondrial disease.

The event has grown substantially in size and popularity since then, and is set to break another record this year for number of participants and funds raised.

Also new this year is the route, which will take runners up and down Riverside Drive instead of down the channel as in previous years.

Young people can look forward to seeing Oliver native Cody Kearsley, who plays Moose Mason on Riverdale, a popular teen TV series based on the classic Archie comic book series.

He will be at the event supporting the cause and signing autographs for fans.

Registration will be available on site and costs $20, which includes a T-shirt, sunglasses and a colour pack. To register online, visit www.wildstone.com/run.
