A life sentence should be that

Dear editor: Re: Serial killer transferred to Quebec, Herald, A1, June 25

I wonder which overpaid, bureaucratic, weak-kneed panel made the latest decision to apply creature comforts to Willie Pickton.

Willie, not happy and content with the “service” he’s getting at Kent institution, has been transferred to the Port Cartier institution in Quebec so that his safety can be better assured and he will have better access to more creature comforts.

After all, didn’t we do the same for the other killer competitor, Clifford Olson?

Good food, TV, libraries, heat, soft mattress, air conditioning, exercise equipment, the best free instant medical care, all medications free, plus Old Clifford was given the ability and opportunity to re-torture and put all the families through living hell every couple of years or so by sucking up to the infamous Parole Board.

Can you begin to imagine the anguish the families had to go through over and over again?

Nothing changes. Every effort is always rendered with care and compassion towards the perp, the killer, the destroyer of lives and dreams. Rehabilitation is the name of the game, forget about restitution for the victims, let’s see if we can rehabilitate this chap who had a bit of a rough childhood, he deserves and second and third chance.
