Police should try for bigger fish

-

Dear editor: Re: Trafficker handed 34-month jail term, Herald, A1, July 17

Great headline grabber, but what does it really mean? Are the police doing a wonderful job of getting illegal drugs off the streets of Penticton? Will this mean the local drug addicts, or for that matter, the general population be any safer?

Grabbing up some chick for peddling a few pills will mean zip in the whole scheme of things.

Until the authorities actually get serious about curtailing the ready availability of these street drugs at the source, none of the current street and drug problems will be seriously impacted upon. Tom Crawford Penticton everyone that wireless devices are the “in” thing. Talking, seeing things, experiencing the real world isn’t.

Worse, the agencies with the responsibility to protect us are being negligent and have conflicts of interest. Health Canada, with responsibility for protecting us, works with Industry Canada, which has the mandate to support industry.

Billions of dollars are paid to the government for access to airways for signals. If HC tells Canadians that this is dangerous or strengthens safeguards, money will be lost to both the industry and government.

Two recent studies confirm that exposure, even at very low levels, increase risk of brain and heart cancers, in addition to many other health problems.

The U.S. National Toxicology Program animal study of cell phone radiation and the Ramazzini study, each 10 years long, costing multi-millions of dollars, are ignored by HC.

Historically, HC has shied away from a review of nearly 24,000 independent studies demonstrating adverse bio-effects of microwave frequency which can occur in the first few minutes at levels associated with all wireless devices including cell and cordless phones, cell towers, WI-FI, and wireless utility ‘smart’ meters.

It has become difficult to avoid being exposed to microwave radiation, with so many cell towers being needed to support addictions to wireless devices. But there are plans to make it worse.

The demand for faster data access for games, movies, etc., is leading to a new technology – 5G. Miniature, but strong, cell towers are being put on poles outside homes. No one is being told that new frequencies are available, ones for which there is no scientific research. Exposure will be 24/7/365 mere feet from our homes with no notice to residents.

Every Canadian, especially representatives on local, regional, provincial and federal level, are urged to see and listen to this testimony to Michigan House Energy Policy Committee on the dangers of 5G, to get a clear picture what is awaiting us: Hans Karow, Coalition to Reduce Electropollution
