Mental illness not a valid excuse

-

Dear editor They said, “The medications are working good and he is responding exceptionally well.” She said, “And my son is still dead!” They said, “But he has made wonderful progress and is now an outstanding citizen and rebuilding his life.” She said, “And my son is still dead!” They said, “But he was sick and mentally ill at the time, and he heard instructions from 'God' telling him what to do.” She said, “And my son is still dead!” They said, “But he is full of remorse, and is now a model citizen and he regrets everything that happed that day” and it still bothers him. She said, “And my son is still dead!” They said, “But Mr. Li was found 'not guilty’ and he has been given an 'absolute discharge' and the Criminal Review Board says he is no longer a threat if he takes his medications. She said, "And my son is still dead!” I am of course referring to the 10-year anniversary of that poor kid Tim McLean who just happened to be on the Greyhound bus next to the creep Vince Li (now renamed with the help of the Government to Will Lee Baker) the kid who fell asleep and the creep who decided to kill him and decapitate him and then committing a horrendous cannibal act on him.

All the people screaming, running off the bus with the driver alongside them, the coppers after being called to the scene of the heinous crime were waiting outside the bus for five hours for instructions as to what to do with the monster on the bus holding onto the head of the kid.

I listened to the CBC radio broadcast on this topic on Monday as no doubt many of you out there also did, and I can tell you my heart broke for this woman.

A mother and family who cannot “move on” as this creep has readily done, or the agony that one of the attending coppers suffered who has since ended his life after his PTSD syndrome got the better of him after dealing with this crime.

As I have said before, mental health is no excuse or defence for murder!
