New seats in time for comic production

Many Hats Theatre Co. will present “Baskerville,” a comic take on Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Hound of Baskervilles,” Sept. 6-29 at The Cannery Stage.

Baskerville is directed by Josephine Patterson, a former winner of the OZone theatre festival's bestdirector award.

Her cast includes Rob King, Cal Meiklejohn, Martin Pedersen, Alyosha Pushak and Kim Russell.

Shannon French is producing and Marlena Dolan is stage manager. Kyle Anderson has designed the program and posters.

The play is adapted by Ken Ludwig, an awardwinning comedic writer.

In the play, Sherlock Holmes (Meiklejohn) and Dr. Watson (Holmes) must crack the mystery of The Hound of the Baskervilles before a family curse dooms its newest heir.

Tickets are now on sale for $25 (which includes GST) for adults and $22 for seniors and students. They can be purchased in advance from The Nest and Nectar at 1475 Fairview Road or by phone at 250-493-7275.

There are two opening night galas following the production on Sept. 6-7.

For this production, there will be new seats in the aging theatre. The Many Hats company purchased seats from the failed PenMar performing arts centre and they will be ready in time for the opening night. With the addition of new seats, the configuration of the theatre has been reduced by about six spaces.

The Many Hats thank the City of Penticton, Hansel Aluminum Products, the Cannery and many volunteers who helped with the facelift.
