Rutland hosting candidate forum

-

Dear Editor: As we all know, municipal elections will be held on Oct. 20 to fill the positions of Kelowna mayor and city councillors as well as elect four individuals to the Central Okanagan School District.

The Rutland Residents Association believes that those elected into these positions play integral roles in shaping both the futures of our students and our city and, as such, it is very important for voters to be able to make informed decisions based on facts.

For this reason, we are sponsoring an allcandidates forum to be held at Rutland Centennial Hall (180 Rutland Road N. in Kelowna) on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

This will be an open forum where election candidates can meet with members of the public one on one to discuss topics that are of importance to them. We should be reminded that this format was very successful in the 2014 civic elections, with hundreds of people in attendance as well as the vast majority of the candidates.

The public is welcome to attend from 7 to 9 p.m. and candidates are asked to register by contacting Sharlene at 250-807-5988 or by directing an email to her at secretary@rutlandresidentsassociation.ca.

Parking and access to the hall will be on Roxby Road because of road works being done.

A special note of thanks goes out to the Rutland Park Society for providing the venue to us free of charge as well as URBA for helping to advertise this event.

We sincerely hope that all of the candidates and a huge number of the public will join us in making this the most well attended candidates’ forum in Rutland’s history. Sharlene Drohomereski, secretary

Rutland Residents Association
