Herald has 3 nights of election debate

-

The Penticton Herald will again be offering a series of all-candidates forums for Penticton candidates in the upcoming municipal elections.

The Herald has hosted its own federal, provincial and municipal forums since 2010 which traditionally attract the largest audience of all forums.

The school trustee forum will be Tuesday, Sept. 25. The candidates running for mayor will be featured on Wednesday, Sept. 26 and the city council candidates on Thursday, Sept. 27. All sessions will be held in the east ballroom of the Penticton Lakeside Resort, beginning each night at 7 p.m.

Valley editor James Miller will serve as moderator and all questions will be posed by select members of the media, including Chris Walker from CBC Daybreak and Joe Fries, city editor of The Penticton Herald.

The remainder of the panel will be announced later this week.

For those unable to attend, Peach City Radio will be recording all three forums. Each session will be two hours in length except the city council forum. With 26 candidates running for council, that session will likely be extended by 30 to 60 minutes.

Candidates are being contacted by email today with the format and ground rules. (Any candidate who does not hear from The Herald before 6 p.m. tonight should contact: editor@pentictonherald.ca)
