Penticton crowns club champions on the weekend

It was a ninth Penticton Golf and Country Club ladies’ championsh­ip for Diane Anderson.

Brooks Lancaster captured his third men’s club title with a total of 95 members taking part in the two competitio­ns held Saturday and Sunday at the PG & CC.

WOMEN’S: Anderson carded a 36-hole score of 165 to edge out Donna Lalonde, who finished two strokes back at 167.

The two golfers were tied going into the final hole of the two-day event.

Laura Mansell claimed the overall low net and the Jack McFall Memorial Trophy at 143.

0-16 handicap: Gross, Lalonde, 167; net, Lynn Kinsey, 158.

17-22 handicap: Gross, Elsy Mackie, 181; net, Kim Smith, 154.

23-plus handicap: Gross, Bernice Cameron, 198; net, Judy Hillier, 150.

MEN’S: Lancaster finished at 144 and pulled away to win by five strokes after being tied with Russ Torlage with nine holes to play.

Burl Moody claimed the overall low net at 135.

0-9 handicap: Gross, Torlage, 149; net, Moody, 135.

10-12 handicap: Gross, Ken Anderson, 152; net, Blair Jubinville, 138 (countback).

13-18 handicap: Gross, Brent Levins, 166; net, Marty Smith, 135 (countback).

19-plus handicap: Net, Bruno St. Martin, 136.
