Members are being sought for the City of Penticton’s new Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.

Comprised of 13 voting members appointed by, and reporting to, city council for a term ending Dec. 31, 2019, the committee is mandated to make recommenda­tions on matters referred to it, including:

– The provision, protection and promotion of parks and recreation services.

– Supporting and maintainin­g the vision and values of the 2018 Parks and Recreation Master Plan;

– Reviewing and providing feedback on parks and recreation proposed projects, initiative­s or challenges.

– Advising on the implementa­tion of recommenda­tions outlined in the 2018 Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

– Reviewing, evaluating and providing recommenda­tions on park uses and protection.

– Making recommenda­tions on community engagement requiremen­ts related to parkl and protection and use policy.

– Making recommenda­tions on proposals for any leasing of park space.

– Making recommenda­tions on city policies and bylaws that affect parks and recreation services.

Of the 13 members sought, preference will be given for one representa­tive of School District 67.

Twelve other members of the community will be selected on the basis of their knowledge or experience in community parks and recreation.
