PLK opens with entertaini­ng win

Zico Pescada was in fine form to help Penticton Lock and Key outlast Theos in a shootout thriller to open the Bad Tattoo Brewery Masters Indoor Soccer League season.

Pescada scored four goals in regulation and added the shootout winner as PLK triumphed 7-6 on Sunday at the Adidas Sportsplex.

KIJHL

Peter Ruocco had the other two goals for the winners in a close game that was tied 2-2 at halftime. Tim Polukoshko made two saves on three shootout attempts to preserve the win.

Mike Beliveau had three, Paul Borba two and Duarte Francisco one for Theos.

In the other game, Harvey Lister Webb overcame a late 4-2 deficit to beat TC Auto Sales 6-4.

It’s a battle for second place in the Okanagan Division between two hot teams in KIJHL action tonight at the Summerland Arena.

The Princeton Posse (7-5-0) take on the Summerland Steam (8-6-1) in a 7:30 p.m. puck-drop.

Princeton had a six-game winning streak halted with a 3-2 home-ice loss to Sicamous on Saturday, while the Steam are 4-0-1 in their last five games after sweeping a weekend road trip to Spokane and Beaver Valley. scored twice and Derek Webb and Nathan Larkin carded solos for HLW.

Brian Johnston, with two, Daryl Pace and James Fofonoff scored for TC Auto.

The “Lucky Players of the Week” were Fofonoff ($25 gift card to BTB), Rob Kroeker and Mike Beliveau ($10 gift certificat­es to BTB).

In games this Sunday, TC Auto plays Theos at 10 a.m., and PLK takes on HLW at 11:10 a.m. The teams met twice previously in Princeton, with the Steam winning 4-0 on Sept. 8 and the Posse prevailing 7-4 on Sept. 29.

OLDTIMERS’ HOCKEY

Kevin Dunn got it done in Penticton Oldtimers Hockey League action. Dunn, nicknamed “Honeyman”, scored twice to lead Aggressive Edge to an 8-6 victory over Speed on Thursday at Memorial Arena.

Ken Kabinuk, Steward Barboluk, Todd Prokopchuc­k, Glenn Sherstobit­off, Dino Yablonski and Blair Bolinski also scored for the winners, with Patty Murphy enjoying a strong game in goal.
