PLK wins another shootout

Alex nets winner over HLW; TC Auto hangs on to beat Theos

Two games, two shootout wins to open the Bad Tattoo Brewery Masters Indoor Soccer League for Penticton Lock and Key.

Herb Alex scored the shootout winner as PLK eked out a hard-fought, low-scoring 3-2 victory over Harvey Lister-Webb on Sunday at the Adidas Sportsplex.

Zico Pescada also scored in the shootout for the winners, while Al Manning scored and Derrick Webb and Reid Jenkins both hit the woodwork for HLW.

After a scoreless first half, Rob Kroeker and Peter Ruocco connected for PLK, while Manning and Jenkins clicked for HLW.

PLK got two points for the shootout win while HLW got one for the shootout loss. Teams are awarded three points for winning in regulation time.

In the early game, Darryl Pace had a hat-trick and Peter Toth and James Fofonoff each scored twice as TC Auto Sales beat Theos 8-5.

Fofonoff and Brian Johnston each had two assists.

Ben Cougny also scored, while Gord McLaren and Mike Beliveau with two each and Phil Barata clicked for Theos.

TC Auto jumped to a 4-0 lead midway through the first half but Theos rallied to take a 5-4 lead before TC Auto scored the last four goals to record the win.

In games this Sunday, TC Auto plays PLK at 10 a.m., and Theos faces HLW at 11:10 a.m.
