School trustees named to committees for the next year
Central Okanagan school trustees have been appointed to committees for the next year.
Board chairperson Moyra Baxter is an ex-officio member of all board committees.
Chairing the education and student services committee is Norah Bowman. Members of the committee are Chantelle Desrosiers and Amy Geistlinger.
Chairing the finance and audit committee is Rolli Cacchioni. Members are Julia Fraser and LeeAnn Tiede.
Fraser is chairing the planning and facilities committee. Members are Cacchioni and Desrosiers.
Tiede will chair the policy committee, with Bowman and Geistlinger as members.
Chairing the executive staff management committee is Desrosiers. Members are Baxter and Cacchioni.
Fraser will serve as the vice-chairperson of the board from November 2018 to April 2019.
Cacchioni will serve as the vicechairperson from May to November 2019.
The vice-chairperson will chair the general affairs committee and also serve on the co-ordinating committee with Baxter.
Trustees were also appointed as representatives on school district committees, to serve for one year.
Bowman and Fraser will serve as representatives on the district Aboriginal education council.
Geistlinger will serve as the representative on the district early years partnership committee.
Baxter will serve as the representative on the public education awareness committee.
Fraser will serve as the representative on the district health promoting schools committee.
Bowman will serve as the representative on the district human rights committee.
Tiede will serve as the representative on the district safe schools committee.
Representing the board on outside committees and organizations is Cacchioni, for the Central Okanagan Early Years partnership, and Desrosiers and Baxter, for the West Kelowna traffic safety committee.
The board also appointed two trustees to represent the board at provincial representative assemblies.
Fraser will represent the board on the B.C. School Trustees Association.
Desrosiers will represent the board on the B.C. Public School Employers’ Association/B.C. School Trustees Association bargaining representative council.
These appointments will be approved at Wednesday’s board meeting.
