Calling people the other A-word

-

Dear editor: Joe Fries doesn’t have any of it, but James Miller has his fair share of it. Jakubeit was over run with it, Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran showed no need for it despite his supposedly close friend’s recent battle to oust him.

Christy Clark had an abundance of it but Bill Vander Zalm and Mike Harcourt despite being political arch rivals showed none of it?

Senator Pat Carney was the epitome of it, and Bill Clinton didn’t show any of it but his lovely wife made up for him.

The worst of all examples were our exCanadian prime ministers. The very worst was Justin’s dad, the unmistakable Pierre Trudeau, and followed only a hair behind with Jean Chretien, then toss in the one and only Brian Mulroney and put them all in the same bin.

Ronald Reagan didn’t have any of it, and neither did the man of the century Mikhail Gorbachev have any use for it, and yet they accomplished the impossible...the end of the Cold War and the tearing down of the Berlin Wall. Gordon Campbell was engulfed in it as was his sister Kim, but not their younger brother Michael, Glen Clark like Dave Barret had no time for it,

Jimmy Patterson despite being worth a Bob or Two had none of it either, but John Furlong of the Winter Olympics was full of it. I personally don’t have any of it neither does my first wife, and my older brother in his 80s in the UK doesn’t have any of it but my late sister had plenty to spare.

I could go on... and now that I am deemed the “Oracle” as offensively described by Herald reader Robert Collen, I will suggest to you the word is arrogance! Don Smithyman

Oliver
