COLUMBUS, Ohio — Johnny Gaudreau had two goals and two assists, and the Calgary Flames scored five goals in the second period to rally past the Columbus Blue Jackets 9-6 on Tuesday night.

Cam Atkinson had a hat trick for Columbus to extend his point streak to 11 games, but the Blue Jackets lost their second straight.

Sean Monahan also had two goals and two assists for Calgary, which scored five straight goals for a 6-4 lead during the second period. Monahan opened that barrage 1:55 into the second, and Elias Lindholm, Matthew Tkachuk, Noah Hanifin and TJ Brodie followed with goals. Tkachuk, Hanifin and Brodie scored in a span of 1:53.

Monahan, Gaudreau and Austin Czarnik each scored in the third period for Calgary.

NEW YORK — Jacob Trouba and Adam Lowry scored 22 seconds apart early in the third period, rallying the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

Nikolaj Ehlers added an empty-net goal with 2.1 seconds left and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 27 shots as Winnipeg won for the fifth time in six games.

The Jets have three straight road wins for the first time this season after completing a sweep of their three-game trip to the New York area. Winnipeg beat New Jersey 4-3 in overtime on Saturday, then won 4-3 in a shootout against the Rangers on Sunday.

Anders Lee scored for the Islanders, who have lost three of four.Thomas Greiss finished with 21 saves.

Lowry put the Jets ahead as he scored on a rebound of Brandon Tanev’s shot in front for his fifth at 4:01 of the final frame.

LEAFS 4, SABRES 3 (OT)

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Auston Matthews scored his second goal of the game with only three seconds left in overtime, and the Toronto Maple Leafs matched their best start in 84 years with a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.

The Maple Leafs won their fifth straight game and improved to 20-8. The only other time it took them just 28 games to reach 20 wins was when they opened the 1934-35 season at 20-6-2.

Kasperi Kapanen set up the decisive goal by skating up the left wing and drawing two defenders before dropping a pass to a trailing Matthews. Driving to the net, he got around Sabres forward Evan Rodrigues and snapped a shot over goalie Linus Ullmark’s left shoulder.

Patrick Marleau scored with 5:13 remaining in regulation to force overtime. Jake Gardiner also scored and Frederik Andersen stopped 38 shots to win his fourth straight.

HABS 5, SENATORS 2

MONTREAL — Max Domi scored twice and added an assist and Jonathan Drouin had a goal and two helpers as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-2 on Tuesday.

Artturi Lehkonen and Brendan Gallagher also scored for the Canadiens (13-10-5), who entered the game with one win in their last seven. Carey Price stopped 28 shots.

Mark Stone and Dylan DeMelo scored for the Senators (12-13-3), who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Craig Anderson made 36 saves.

The Canadiens netted three unanswered goals in the second period to pull away.

Domi buried a one-timer from Drouin, then added his second of the period three minutes later, again on a pass from Drouin.
