MURRAY, Helen

-

Helen, a long-time resident of Kelowna, passed away of natural causes in Vancouver the morning of April 12th, five weeks short of her 1O4th birthday. In her youth she loved playing baseball with the boys as she could, “chase them around” the baseball diamond. She often talked about things she enjoyed doing during her life, so socializing or ballroom dancing were often the topics. During her time in Vancouver, she loved the years she worked at the T. Eatons Co. in the home décor, china and crystal departments and in recognition of her services, she received an Outstanding Employee Award, which she dearly cherished. During her early days in Kelowna she enjoyed golfing as well as swimming in the lake. Later in life Helen enjoyed the camaraderie of The Bridge Group at the Hobson Road Senior’s Center and always looked forward to their playing days. She also enjoyed her Wed. night card games with special friends, as well as her Saturday or Sunday shopping trips with a kind, amazing and thoughtful neighbor. Shopping excursions to the Malls in Kelowna were always adventures and very special occasions. SHE LOVED SHOPPING. Helen was well known for her cabbage rolls, perogies, dill pickles and apple pies. Homemade soup was always on the summer kitchen’s back burner. Over the years, Helen always had a soft spot in her heart for her cocker spaniel companions. As to the wildlife, the deer had her property pegged. Helen had to keep a sharp eye out for the deer that found a quiet haven on her park-like property. Many returned year after year, usually in May, to have their babies (on occasion twins). At times, she had as many as ten deer resting or frolicking on and around her yard and property. They certainly loved her plants and the new growth on her trees. Helen was predeceased by her husband Robert (Uncle Bob), many years ago, as well as all her siblings. She leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces and extended family members, as well as very, very special friends in Vancouver and Kelowna. No Service By Request. At a later date, Helen will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby, BC.

Rest now in the arms of the angels “Auntie Helen”.
