BAYLES, Dorothy Gladys

-

September 16, 1923-July 2, 2020 (96 years)

Our dear mother took her final breath in the early morning hours of July 2, with her daughter June at her side. Mom lived her life to the fullest and was a positive influence on her family and friends. Mom was active until her 94th year but slowed down considerably after that. Her family is most appreciative of the care given to her by all the staff at Dr. Andrew Pavilion in Summerland. Mom always used to say, “I love it here”, and “I love the way I am looked after.” Thank you, Dr. Andrew Pavilion staff! We also want to thank Mom’s close friend, Kathy Davies, who was a neighbour and constant companion who shared so many good times with her over the years. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband James Murray Bayles (2015), sister June Feldman, and brother Bud Ware. She will be missed by her children Gerald Bayles (Penny) of Tucson, Arizona, Jim Bayles (Monita) of Vancouver, BC, and June Reich of Vernon, BC; as well as her grandchildren Trevor, Robbie, Tanya, Clarke, Ashley, Jonathan, Daniel, Ronda, and Bob; and all the great grandchildren. Our mother was an active member of St. Stephen Anglican Church; her faith gave her much comfort over the years. Her favourite hymn was ‘The Old Rugged Cross’. Mom was the quintessential homemaker; her butter tarts and homemade breads were amazing. She was also an avid bridge player and an accomplished seamstress. Mom and Dad had a wide circle of friends in Summerland and loved to entertain at their home as often as possible.Mom loved her dogs. Our home was not complete without a dog or two at our feet. June played ’Somewhere over the Rainbow’ by Judy Garland at 6:15 a.m. Mom took her last breath at 6:20 a.m. She is truly in a better place now with her Father in Heaven. Peace be with you, Mom. You will always be in our hearts. Dorothy has been placed to rest alongside her husband of 70 years, James Murray Bayles, in the Garden of Remembrance at St. Stephen Anglican Church in Summerland, BC. Condolences may be directed to the family through providencefuneralhomes.com 250-494-7752.
