What’s Available “Movie: Vita & Virginia”

Somewhat in the same vein as the quirky “Killing Eve,” this series follows a pair of British detectives (Eve Myles and Babou Ceesay) as they track down a pair of deadly killers (Hermione Corfield and Dipo Ola). The cat-andmouse pursuit eventually becomes less important, however, than the prickly and dysfunctional relationships among these four main characters. Guest stars include Kris Marshall, Vicki Pepperdine and Neil Stuke.

From across the pond comes this 2018 biographical drama about the love affair between socialite Vita Sackville-West (Gemma Arterton, “The Escape”) and literary icon Virginia Woolf (Elizabeth Debicki, “The Great Gatsby”) in 1920s London. Isabella Rossellini, Rupert Penry-Jones, Gethin Anthony and Peter Ferdinando are also in the talented cast for director Chanya Button (“Burn Burn Burn”).

“Movie: The Scent of Rain & Lightning”

Blake Robbins (“The Sublime and the Beautiful”) directed this atmospheric 2017 mystery about a young woman (Maika Monroe, “It Follows”) who turns sleuth to investigate the murder of her parents when rumors suggest the man convicted of the crime may be innocent. Brad Carter, Will Patton, Justin Chatwin, Maggie Grace and Bonnie Bedelia are also in the solid cast.

Sophie Deraspe (“Vital Signs,” “The Wolves”) directed this 2019 adaptation of the classic Greek tragedy that follows the story of a family of refugees in modernday Montreal. Antoine Desrochers, Paul Doucet, Nahéma Ricci, Rawad El-Zein and Nour Belkhiria head the cast.
