What’s Available NOW On
“The Goes Wrong Show”
From Great Britain’s BBC One comes this comedy series inspired by a British stage production, that follows the well-meaning amateurs of the Cornley Dramatic Society as they attempt to put on a series of terrible TV plays, all of which end in disaster before a live studio audience. It’s the brainchild of the British comedy troupe Mischief, whose members make up the cast.
“Movie: Get Duked!”
From across the pond comes this 2019 anarchic, hip-hop-inspired action comedy about four city boys who go off on a wilderness trek as they try to escape from a mysterious huntsman. Eddie Izzard, Kate Dickie, James Cosmo and Kevin Guthrie head the cast for director Ninian Doff (“The Chemical Brothers: We’ve Got to Try”).
“Slings and Arrows”
A solid cast including Paul Gross, Martha Burns, Stephen Ouimette and Don McKellar star in the first season of this 2003-06 TMN comedy about a legendary theatrical madman who returns to take control of the theater festival where he saw his greatest success and failure and he’s haunted by his recently deceased mentor and predecessor.
“Movie: All In: The Fight for Democracy”
Filmmakers Liz Garbus (“I’ll Be Gone in the Dark”) and Lisa Cortes (“Precious”) helmed this documentary that looks at the history and activism against voter suppression. One of the producers of the film is Stacey Abrams, the former congresswoman from Georgia who claims the tactic was used against her in her run for the governorship of that state in 2018. (ORIGINAL)
