AMY ADAMS’ TOP 10 MOVIES

- BY JAY BOBBIN

“Arrival” (2016): Some people still scratch their heads over Adams not getting an Oscar nomination for her strong performance as a linguist nursing personal trauma while helping military officers communicate with aliens.

“American Hustle” (2013): Adams is very successful with her image change-up as half of a 1970s con-artist team forced to collaborate with the FBI.

“Trouble With the Curve” (2012): An appealing Adams portrays the spirited daughter of a baseball scout (Clint Eastwood) who resists accepting he’s in the twilight of his career.

“The Master” (2012): Adams holds her own against a truly “Master”-ful Philip Seymour Hoffman as the wife of his character, the guru behind a movement called The Cause.

“The Muppets” (2011): Kermit, Miss Piggy and company might have the title billing here, but Adams is just as irresistible as a longtime Muppets fan out to reunite them and save their theater.

“The Fighter” (2010): Abandoning her usual softness, Adams delivers as the no-nonsense girlfriend of boxer Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg).

“Julie & Julia” (2009): Adams is quite good, but the movie really is made by Meryl Streep as master chef Julia Child, whose recipes are followed by a modern blogger (Adams) in separate segments in different decades.

“Sunshine Cleaning” (2008): Adams and Emily Blunt make an excellent team as sisters who become crime-scene cleanup technicians.

“Enchanted” (2007): Adams becomes a living Disney princess in this fantasy-comedy that brings her character into the real world.

“Junebug” (2005): Hollywood really began to pay attention to Adams through her Oscar-nominated performance as a pregnant woman enamored of her visiting sister-in-law

(Embeth Davidtz).
