TERPSTRA, June Iris

-

June 17, 1936 - July 17, 2021 June was born in Nipawin Saskatchewan and was the middle of three girls, sister Marge Eng (deceased), and Grace Foden. June’s maiden name was Laferalle and had an interesting lineage that was a mixture of English, Welsh and French (Normandy). As an early teenager June and her sisters moved with their mother Naomi to Langley, B.C., shortly after their father’s passing. She later met and married Charles Terpstra and had three boys Bradley, Randy and Bruce. Sadly Bruce didn’t make his first birthday. In 1962 the family moved to Kamloops, B.C., for a short period of time where June had a baby girl Darcy. It was a hectic time as the family moved to Penticton which was to become her home for the rest of her life. Times were good through the years however, June lost her husband Charlie to an industrial accident in the mid seventies. A relatively short time later, lost her second son Randy to illness. Several years down the road, David (Ken) Wylie came into June’s life. Ken and his four kids Glenn, Tricia, Lynne and Mike all loved June like family and would find any excuse to visit them fairly regularly. After spending many happy years together Ken passed away peacefully just over 2 years ago. Since then June has kept her life busy with her girlfriends playing bridge, going out for lunches and playing golf (with great gusto but she would laugh about her ability) all while enjoying the exercise and camaraderie of the group functions. A year and a half ago June went to Curacao in the Caribbean for a month with her son Brad and wife Chris over Christmas and Brad’s 65th birthday. June enjoyed the sun and the warmth and at the time of her passing was enjoying the summer weather with her daughter Darcy, husband Curt and the apple of her eye her granddaughter Madison. She was also looking forward to spending the winter in Mexico with Curt and Darcy. A Celebration of June’s Life will take place Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1:00pm at Linden Gardens, 315 Linden Ave, Kaleden, BC V0H 1K0 Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bowersfuneralservice.com
