Kelowna Kiwanis Festival is back with a splash!

-

After a brief hiatus during the pandemic, the Kelowna Kiwanis Festival is back with a splash! We are very excited to be bringing our beloved festival back to you in full force for the 2023 season. The Kelowna Kiwanis Festival provides opportunities for aspiring performing artists to showcase their achievements in dance, music, and voice, with their community, and their peers. All while having their performances evaluated in a constructive and positive manner. To perform, learn, and grow with us, we encourage all of the amazing youth in the central Okanagan to register with us! Schedules, and adjudicators will be announced soon; and registration opens November 15th.

Below are some messages from past participants. Specific names have not been included in order to protect everyone’s privacy.

June 4th, 2022 Dear Kelowna Kiwanis Festival,

This year I was the successful recipient of your generously awarded achievement scholarship for best intermediate musical theatre for the past five years. I have studied musical theatre and classical voice, and also love playing the piano and bass guitar. I plan to pursue the performing arts as my future career. I will use these funds toward furthering my vocal studies. Thank you so much for supporting my musical education.

June 8th, 2022 Dear Kelowna Kiwanis Festival,

YTThank you for all your efforts in organizing this festival, even in challenging circumstances. I really appreciated the experience of the competition, and I know other young musicians did too! I have participated in the festival for many years, and I always learn something valuable from the experience. These funds will go toward my education at UBC in Vancouver, where I hope to continue engaging in music through choirs and other ensembles.

I know you devote a lot of hours to the festival, and my family and I really appreciate your commitment to the arts.

June 12th, 2022 Dear Kelowna Kiwanis Festival,

I participated in the 2022 Kelowna Kiwanis Festival in the grade 10 violin class.

I was very honoured to receive the Shining Star Award from Chamber Music Kelowna.

Thank yotu very much for the award. It will help go towards a new violin that I have been saving for.

I look forward to next year’s festival!
