Lethbridge County presents Town of Coaldale with recreation funding
Lethbridge County presented $91,408 in recreation recently signed Recreation Agreement between the municipalities, Lethbridge County will contribute $470,960 over five years to Coaldale to help fund facilities such as pools and skating arenas.
“The Town of Coaldale welcomes the opportunity to grow our relationship with Lethbridge County,” says Mayor Kim Craig. “With the contribution of the recreation funding we can continue to offer exceptional amenities to residents of Coaldale and the rest of the County as they both continue to expand.”
“Many of our residents enjoy recreation facilities in the Town of Coaldale,” says Reeve Lorne Hickey. “By providing the town with stable and predictable funding over the next five years we can help to ensure that these facilities receive any upgrades that might be needed to accommodate growing populations or construct new facilities as needed. We have a very good relationship with Coaldale and the recreation funding we have presented today is just another way we in which we can further strengthen that relationship.”
Alberta’s Municipal Government Act requires municipalities to sign Intermunicipal Collaboration Frameworks with all municipalities with which they share a common border. Recreation funding is one of the requirements of the ICF. Lethbridge County and the Town of Coaldale signed their ICF and Recreation agreements earlier this year.
