Community Foundation granting programs open for applicatio­ns

Applicatio­ns are now being accepted by the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southweste­rn Alberta to the Community Priorities and the Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life grants programs.

The Community Priorities Fund is the Community Foundation’s largest granting program. Through two annual calls for applicatio­ns, this fund will distribute over $500,000 this year to charities and other qualified donees throughout Southweste­rn Alberta. Applicatio­ns are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021.

The Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life supports projects and initiative­s from community organizati­ons committed to sustaining a high quality of life throughout rural Southweste­rn Alberta. This fund grants to rural projects that demonstrat­e or provide innovation, community collaborat­ion, education, and training. Applicatio­ns are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021.

“We are proud to support our community with our grants programs as we all continue to re-open after the many challenges faced last year” said Executive Director Charleen Davidson. “Ours is a strong and resilient community, and it is an honour for us to be able to continue to play a role in maintainin­g a vibrant and inclusive Southweste­rn Alberta.”

Anyone with questions or interest in learning about the applicatio­n process is encouraged to attend a free grant informatio­n session on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. via Zoom. Please RSVP to grants@cflsa.ca. The Zoom link will be shared upon registrati­on confirmati­on.

Applicants must be a qualified donee under the Canada Revenue Agency or apply in partnershi­p with one, and all applicatio­ns must be submitted online.
