Krieger helps Canada post victory

Regina’s Rachel Krieger scored for the Canadian women’s water polo team in its 18-8 victory over Brazil on Wednesday during a qualificat­ion tournament for the FINA world aquatic championsh­ips.

In other round-robin action in Calgary, the Canadian men’s team — which includes Kevin Graham of Regina — defeated the United States 10-6.

Saskatchew­an Credit Unions are to continue as the Queen City Marathon’s title sponsors through 201314, organizers of the Queen City Marathon announced Thursday.

Saskatchew­an Credit Unions have been the title sponsors of the event since 2007.

The 2013 Credit Union QCM is to be held Sept. 8 in Regina.

Jory Miller scored a shootout goal to lift Fort Knox to a 5-4 win over the visiting Traveland RV Storm in Prairie Junior Hockey League action Wednesday.

Avery Van Blaricom, with two, Tyler Durdle and Landon Minto also scored for Fort Knox.

Brady Anderson, Taylor Ernst, Dylan Herzberg and Devin McGonigal replied for the Storm.

Joshua Switzer stopped 40 shots for Fort Knox, while Andrew Matheson made 28 saves for the Storm.

Emma Waldenberg­er scored twice for the Regina Rebels in their 3-1 victory over the host Melville Fox FM Prairie Fire in Saskatchew­an Female Midget AAA Hockey League action on Wednesday.

Teah Anderson also scored for the Rebels.

Brooklyn McKenna replied for Melville.

Regina’s Tatum Shand and Melville’s Nicole Clay each made 24 saves.

Today’s matches are to run from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Action is to resume Saturday at 9 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m.

Amy Jacobson scored 36 points for the Regina Christian Grizzlies in their 79-72 overtime victory over the Martin Monarchs in Regina Intercolle­giate Basketball League junior girls action Wednesday.

Shania Stonechild replied with 32 points for Martin.

The host Thom Trojans defeated the O’Neill Titans 49-41 in the championsh­ip game of the Trojan Classic junior boys basketball tournament on Saturday.

Cordell Kadash had a game-high 18 points for O’Neill. Morgan Stack paced Thom with 16 points.
