Rebels sweep weekend series from Bears
The Regina Rebels swept their two-game series with the Prince Albert A&W Bears in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League on the weekend.
Delaney Frey paced the Rebels with three goals in their 8-3 victory Sunday.
Jylelle Carpenter-Boesch, Lilla Carpenter-Boesch, Chelsea Perepeluk, Erica Rieder and Emma Waldenberger also scored for Regina. Brittany Yeager replied for the Bears.
Regina’s Tatum Shand made 22 saves. Jessica Vance and Shayla Youngman combined to stop 29 shots for Prince Albert.
On Saturday, Regina defeated Prince Albert 4-2 at Moose Jaw’s Mosaic Place.
Marlee Clarkson, Jylelle Carpenter-Boesch, Santana Gravelle and Waldenberger scored for the Rebels.
Aleece Anderson and Amy Weightman replied for the Bears.
Regina’s Summer Roberts made 20 saves. Vance stopped 34 shots for the Bears. Logan Flodell made 21 saves for the host Regina Pat Canadians in their 4-3 victory over the Yorkton Harvest in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League action Sunday.
Tyler Adams, Ryan Roberts, Braden Senft and Cohen Yano scored for Regina.
Chase McKersie, Marc Shaw and Korwin Shewchuk replied for Yorkton.
Carson Bogdan stopped 28 shots for the Harvest. The visiting Saskatoon Royals defeated the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals 9-6 in Prairie Junior Hockey League action Sunday.
Cole Hoffart scored four goals for Regina and Eric Duran had two goals.
Dylan Johner and Maury Ruether scored three and two goals, respectively, for Saskatoon, which got singles from Ryan Frehlick, Tyler Hahn, Carson Halter and Garrett Zelinski.
Regina’s Braven MacPherson made 43 saves. Branden Duval stopped 25 shots for Saskatoon. Noah Choboter, Brian Palaschuk and Cassandra Brassard of the Regina Optimist Dolphins swim club had big weekends at the Goldfins Invitational swimming competition in Saskatoon.
Choboter won six gold medals and one silver, Palaschuk earned five gold and two silver, and Brassard finished with six gold.
Mikayla Amundsen and Lexy King each won five medals.
Swimmers from the club won more than 100 medals.
