Ryder says she’s out of the loop
Winona Ryder tells Red mag that she’s so “out of the loop” about pop culture that she didn’t know what Fifty Shades of Grey is about.
“I met (author) E .L . James at a party and I’d heard about the book … but because there’s a tie on the cover I thought it was about Wall Street. I think I said something really stupid to her because I literally thought it was about the economy.”
She’s 42. What passes for genius in marketing these
days: Arby’s, the burger chain, just paid $44,100 for Pharrell Williams’s hat.
Really. The 40-year-old singer/rapper/songwriter/ wore a great big Vivienne Westwood hat at the Grammy Awards in January, and then last month put it on eBay.
The Arby ’ s connection is that the firm’s logo includes a hat kind of like the item in question.
The money goes to Pharrell’s charity, From One Hand to Another, which its website fohta. org says exists to help “underserved” youth. Speaking of endorsements: Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest is with Restorsea brand “anti-aging” skin goop, made from algae and from enzymes released when salmon hatch.
Paltrow insists, on the website fashionista. com, “I never promote anything that I don’t use, love and believe in.”
So she must use, love and believe in this, just as she does Max Factor, Hugo Boss and Estée Lauder stuff.
