The Rush wins ringette tournament in Edmonton

The Rush, a member of the Buffalo Plains Ringette Associatio­n, won the under-14 title at the 30th annual Edmonton Ringette Club Wood AA tournament on the weekend.

The Rush, which was undefeated in the tournament, defeated Calgary Red 6-1 in Sunday’s goldmedal game.

Dean McNabb had 19 saves for the shutout as he backstoppe­d the Regina Pat Canadians to a 4-0 victory over the Tisdale Trojans in Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League action at the Co-operators Centre on Sunday.

Carson Focht, Ty Barnstable, Tanner Bobyck and Carson Denomie scored for the Pat Canadians. Kye Steinke made 41 saves for the Trojans.

Humboldt’s William Dutton won gold and silver medals at the longtrack speedskati­ng World Cup in Salt Lake City on Sunday.

Dutton won gold in the men’s team sprint A final alongside teammates Alexandre St-Jean of Quebec City and Vincent De Haitre of Cumberland, Ont.

Dutton also won the silver in the men’s 500-metre A final.

White City’s Marsha Hudey placed fourth with teammates Kaylin Irvine (from Calgary) and Heather McLean (Winnipeg) in the women’s team sprint. Hudey also finished in 20th in the women’s 1,000m B final.

Tickets are on sale for the Saskatchew­an men’s provincial curling championsh­ip to be held Feb. 3-7 in Kindersley.

The draw will include 16 teams, including three that have already secured a spot in the 2016 SaskTel Tankard — Randy Bryden (Regina), Bruce Korte (Saskatoon) and Shawn Joyce (Saskatoon).
