Regina Ladies Open slated for July 17 and 18

The 97th annual Regina Ladies Open Golf Tournament is scheduled for July 17 and 18.

Round 1 will be played at the Murray Golf Course. Round 2 is slated for the Tor Hill.

The $150 entry fee covers two rounds of golf plus dinner after Round 2. Registrati­on is open to all women with a golf handicap. All skill levels are welcome.

The entry deadline is July 6. An early-bird draw is to be held June 8, with the winner to receive an entry-fee refund.

The Piapot Padres scored five runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Earl Grey Rockets 8-7 in Western Cycle Rambler Park Fastball League action Tuesday.

Mickey Lavallee and winning pitcher Jonas Thomson homered for Piapot during the seveninnin­g game. Jason Kiel cleared the Rambler Park fence for the Rockets.

The Regina Gold also rallied Tuesday, scoring six seventhinn­ing runs to defeat the Moose Jaw Giants 11-7. Todd Whitehead and Joe MacDonald homered for Moose Jaw.

Also on Tuesday, Dwayne Redman Jr., struck out 16 over six innings as the Standing Buffalo Dakotas blanked the Piapot Wolfpack 5-0, and the Moose Jaw Canadians edged Silver Screen Sportswear 9-8. Dave Helland of the Canadians and Dustin Thiel of Silver Screen slammed home runs.

Rachael Huber was the winning pitcher as the Lumsden Cubs shut out the Wheat City Extreme 8-0 in Regina Ladies Softball Associatio­n action Tuesday.

Meanwhile at Douglas Park, Lindsay O’Watch got the win as the Senior Saints doubled the Raiders 8-4, and the Pasqua Ladies defeated the T4 Ladies 16-9.

James Holowaty was the winning pitcher as the Rosebud Royals defeated the Wynyard Blues 7-5 in Richardson Pioneer Men’s Fastball League action Tuesday. Tayler Jordan homered for Wynyard.

On Monday, Dusty Keshane pitched a complete-game shutout as the Stoney Creek Braves defeated the Wadena Wildcats 9-0. Ryan Keshane had a homer.
