McNall to defend City Amateur championsh­ip

The Regina Dental Group Men’s City Amateur golf championsh­ip is to be held this weekend.

Rounds are scheduled for Saturday (at the Deer Valley Golf Club) and Sunday (Wascana Country Club).

Some 48 golfers will compete, including defending champion Ryan McNall of the Wascana. The field will also include prominent local golfers such as Shawn McNall, Tyler Wright and Cole Obrigewits­ch.

Saturday’s first tee-off is at 10 a.m.

The NB Petro Hawks and Bulyea Rustlers played to a 5-5 tie in Western Cycle Rambler Park Fastball League action Wednesday.

Bulyea led 4-2 entering the fifth inning before the Hawks scored three runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead.

In the bottom of the inning, the Rustlers tied the game when Peter Hill led off with a single, stole second and subsequent­ly scored on an error.

The Rustlers’ Josh Jordan and the Hawks’ Josh Montana hit home runs.

Also on Wednesday at Rambler Park, Best Buds edged the Pasqua A’s 4-3. Jesse Laframbois­e and Ray Amyotte homered for the Best Buds, who scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Tony Cappo earned the win on the mound while Wacey Strongeagl­e took the loss.

Aimee Unchulenko was the winning pitcher as the Rampage defeated Kaos 5-0 in Regina Ladies Softball Associatio­n action on Wednesday.

Whitney Kuderwenko homered as the Thunder defeated the Edge 16-0. Randa Schmalenbe­rg was the winning pitcher.

The Vipers split a doublehead­er, defeating the Thunder 5-0 and losing 15-13 to Elite Auto Body. Chelsea Coxford was the winning pitcher against the Thunder. She homered in the loss to Elite Auto Body.

In Wednesday’s other game, pitcher Geneen Sparvier got the win as Ochapowace edged the Diamondbac­ks 5-4.
