Weyburn picks up third win by doubling Red Sox

Garrett Waters was the winning pitcher as the Weyburn Beavers doubled the Regina Red Sox 6-3 in Western Major Baseball League action Monday at Currie Field.

Waters allowed three runs on eight hits while striking out six in eight innings.

Beau Rabedeaux got the save as Weyburn improved its record to 3-1. Regina dropped to 3-2 entering Tuesday’s home game against the Moose Jaw Miller Express.

Red Sox starter Austin Alarid struck out seven in six innings on Monday, allowing three runs on four hits.

Anthony Wiggins had two hits and two runs for Weyburn. Regina’s Justin Erlandson went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored.

Les George struck out 16 in seven innings and Josh Montana homered twice to help the NB Petro Hawks defeat the Best Buds 7-2 in Western Cycle Rambler Park Fastball League action Monday. Ron Cote also homered for the Hawks.

In Monday’s other game at Rambler Park, winning pitcher A.K. Kaiswatum homered as the Piapot Padres edged the Muskowekwa­n Pride 3-2. Kaiswatum fanned nine in six innings.

Courtney Kuffner got the win as the Storm defeated Pasqua 17-11 in Regina Ladies Softball Associatio­n action Monday at Douglas Park.

In Monday’s other games, it was: Pasqua 6, Piapot 6; Piapot 20, Sioux Ladies 7; and, Fusion 15, Sioux Ladies 2.
